Untitled color

When I begin a painting I have no idea what the painting will look like when it is finished. I have no notion of the color, mood or the sense of the work. I simply begin by painting thin multi-colored lines all over the surface. From here I add some color, shapes or whatever I think the work needs. Over the years I have learned that artworks have their own story to tell and part of the artist job is to figure out how to best reveal it. This painting is bright and cheerful with circular energy. It took me some time to figure out if it was finished or not and decided it was when I could neither add nor subtract from it.
