Red Sky at Morn 2

Red Sky at Morn 2 is one of six paintings bearing this title and similar motif, and was painted in 2010 in a barn in California. I believe the strength of the painting lies in the use of predominantly brilliant colors, as well as the juxtaposition of crisp hard edges against a softer more painterly color field inhabited by a variety of free flowing shapes and brushstrokes. Though the title provides a certain allusion to sky and water, the relationship between the many abstract elements, provides the viewer with an opportunity to see much more. I am very fond of this painting, and I’m very pleased that it has been included in the collection of the Hilton Hotel. The artist would like to extend a special thanks to the Marcia Evans Gallery.
